History of Christ Church
Christ Church URC- Methodist church was originally formed in the early 1970’s from a local merger between the Congregational which later became the URC and Methodist churches in Wickford.
We moved to our present building in the town centre behind the Co –op in 1974 where we have been worshipping as a local ecumenical project ever since.
We acknowledge God and Jesus Christ , His son to be our Lord and Saviour and the Holy Spirit to be our guide , we commit ourselves to live together in unity as a company of Christ’s people.
Our intention is that our church should be in communion with the Churches of the URC and Methodist orders, but seek by God’s grace , fellowship with other Churches , especially those of our own neighbourhood , working and praying together with them for the unity of Christ’s Church in the world.
